Questioning the method, not the motive

Eight of the ten Baptist missionaries who were bring held and potentially tried for child abduction have been released, according to this news article.

There have been conflicting reports all along about the plan — some articles said the missionaries were transporting children from a damaged orphanage in Haiti to another orphanage in the Dominican Republic. Other articles said they were planning to set up a new orphanage once reaching the neighboring country.

The issue here is not the motive — there have been hardly any (if any) reports that question the intention of the ten Midwesterners.

I question their method.

Obviously they wanted to move the children to safety as quickly as possible, but they had to know that the Haitian government, which has been extremely reasonable given the circumstances, would have a problem with them smuggling children across the border.
